Novo Nordisk now goes by Novo: what it means for Wegovy patients

Novo Nordisk, the company that makes Wegovy and Ozempic, now uses the single name “Novo” in everyday use. It announced the change on September 14, 2026, and its legal name stays Novo Nordisk A/S [1] [2]. For patients this is a change of name and logo on the company side. The announcement says nothing about drug names, prices or savings programs.

What the company announced

Three things came out together on September 14 [1]:

  • A shorter name. “Novo” is the day-to-day company name; Novo Nordisk A/S is still the legal name worldwide [2]. You will keep seeing the full legal name on legal documents and fine print.
  • A new look and slogan. The rebrand is built around the line “Lasting Health Starts Now” [1], and the updated visual identity uses the company’s Apis bull logo [3].
  • A set of workplace principles called “The Novo Way,” with four parts: customer obsession, competitiveness, clarity, and care and integrity [4].

The chief executive, Mike Doustdar, framed the change as a way to operate and compete better while keeping the company’s purpose the same [5].

What it does not change

We read the full announcement. It does not mention Wegovy, Ozempic or any other product by name, and it does not mention prices, coupons, insurance or patient assistance. Nothing in it tells patients to do anything.

The company’s own US pharmacy site still carries the NovoCare name and lists these Wegovy self-pay prices, read on September 27, 2026 [8] [9]:

Where the strategy news went

The announcement pointed investors to a Capital Markets Day in London on September 21 for the detailed company strategy [6]. Novo’s investor page confirms the event took place on that date [7]. What to do if you take a Novo medicine

Nothing, as far as the announcement goes: it gives patients no new steps, and the NovoCare pages above still sell Wegovy under its usual name. If a letter or website now says “Novo” instead of “Novo Nordisk,” it is the same company, since the legal name has not changed [2]. Be wary of anyone who uses the rebrand to sell you a “new” version of Wegovy or Ozempic.
